exercise 4

My target audience for this magazine is men and women 25-35 who like to eat clean and know whats going on in the world of food. People who usually eat clean usually do it to improve and extend their lives by eating for an active lifestyle, obtain optimum health and boost energy levels and increase overall well-being. I will be using mostly san serif fonts in my magazine. Orange, greens and browns will be the colors used because the greens and browns are earthy but the orange will bring in some energy.

  1. B - I'm not sure I've heard the term "eating clean"? Are you making this up, or have I missed the "hip speak" these days.

Review the wording here, and be more purposeful... no reason to use the word "mostly" or "usually"... be direct and clear.

What IS going on in the world of food... maybe you need to explain this more clearly. What is happening to food sources, food purity, and this industrial food system that is changing the way our food is processed? What about this concerns your audience, and makes them interested in this magazine?

They are young... are they professionals with disposable income... or are they starting a family with young kids? There is a big difference between those 2 audiences in terms of what their interest in this magazine would be.

Why are you using sans serif... what is the underlying concept that leads you to these fonts?

Colors make sense... organic/close to the earth colors with a splash of high energy warmth.

Review your written brief, refine it. No reason for it to be much longer than this, but it should contain a bit more info.

  2. You might want to reread the list of questions I had on the board last class - that might help you think some of this through.
