Advertisement and PSA

  1. The Naked Juice ad is gorgeous! How did you get the transparency for the product? When I worked on my KIND bar, it was a pain in the eye-sockets because I needed to remove its transparency using the pen tool via Photoshop! The headline for the ad works beautifully as well along with the image that provides a sense of adventure! Despite the borders, they're not overpowering the ad, and I think that they work well for this purpose. I also feel its very consistent to the ads I've seen in magazines, which is important to inherit when working in-house especially!

For the PSA, I notice a pattern of not only the words, REUSE, REDUCE, and RECYCLE, I also recognized their increase in boldness - the technique works I think! However, try emphasizing repeat with a similar but different color! Also, I notized that the Earth 911 logo doesn't consist of transparency, which isolates it from the ad - that can be a potential problem! For the logo, try removing the transparency in Photoshop, or find a PDF for your organization to see if you can find a vectorized version of your logo and take it to Illustrator or InDesign!

    Keep up the nice work!

  3. Branin - we spoke about both of these in class on Friday. To repeat:

PSA I love the typographic approach, and do encourage you to experiment with the word "Repeat" a bit more, to make sure we don't miss it, and/or think it's a mistake. It doesn't continue the rhythm you have established with light-to-bold... so it may need a bit more contrast from the other lines. Size? Color?

Ad - Reconsider the white banner - it tries to dominate the design, even from down there... less contrast needed. Font? Placement?

Nice work - coming together well.
