Table of Contents - Tobias

I went a bit out of my personal norm and attempted a new technique with the table of contents. I found the background image, printed it out, and then proceeded to rip and curl a section of the paper back. I then took a photograph of the (ripped) photograph and proceeded to adjust colors, levels, etc. in photoshop. Lastly I imported it into indesign where the text was added.

  1. Very clever, and appealing! The ripped paper is great.

As you finalize the text in the T of C, consider adding "Department" or "Feature" above the items, so we have that information . A byline for the Features might be considered as well.

It might be the compression on this jpeg, but make sure this photo isn't as dull as it appears here. Photoshop work might be in order - sharpening, increasing contrast and saturation might be areas you should visit to make this image be fantastic.

    Nice creativity!

  2. Tobias, this is fascinating - where did you find the image? Overall, the hierarchy is clean and straightforward - not too overpowering as you're providing room for the eyes to gaze around the details of the image! I feel that the color somewhat reminds me of the colors you've used for your cover, but I do think some saturation and contrast (as Coni was saying) may help nicely! Nice going so far!

  3. Its a very creative approach to this assignment. You don't have a lot of text to work with it seems so using this method of filling it up with a captivating image works well. Though I'm not sure how well this particular image plays into your magazine, I love the concept.

  4. Tobias I like how your keeping the same mood throughout your magazine. I would suggest to make the header a bit more eye-catching since it looks a little dull.

  5. I really like how you did this. I've seen a few examples with "what's inside" as part of other magazines online. I feel like something is missing or needs to get changed maybe it's the what's inside typeface?
