Sins i finally had extra time this quarter to do some homework without rushing everything, I motivated myself to finish the magazine just to see how the first draft will look like. What i like is the negative space and how easy the information flows from page to page. I am hesitant to add another element just to make every page look different "What you guys think?"

exercise 3_Jose Gonzalez
This week we exercise assignment was to create magazine covers.
My first the design I wanted to experiment with placement of the text and half cut out of and image. I use this image because i wanted to follow the content"The future of Farming".I also took a beautiful background color from the image which i think make the text and image pop more.
My second design i wanted to create something modern but also symbolize my target audience.I use this beautiful image of vegetables and with a good placement of the logo and content i think i have achieved that.I also use wanted to experiment with the text so i found this unique brush stroke text and wrote "The things man eat" to draw in the target audience.
My final design i use two very unique images to make an illusion to drawing the target audience. I place the logo in clearspace so people can read it and i also did the content in clear space. All i wanted to do with this design is to experiment with the images to see if it could reach the target audience by using just the image and clearspace.

Feature page design
This week homework we were to experiment designing feature articles. Sins during class i've decided to make a man food magazine which it would reach man ages from 25-30. The reason for this target audience it because there isn't a lot of man food magazine out there. I've create a unique logo for the magazine, that i believe represent my target audience very well, because it read food plus magazine, and the plus, i believe it represent more than just food in this magazine.
In the first design we were told to work with 2 even columns grid. I show to do a bold headline over a comedic image of a man pondering of eat two manly Cheeseburger. I've used a block box and bold to text to represent quotes from the reading. This work out well because, it really illustrate the grid and it conveys emotion. Finally, i use a drop cap to show the reader where the true reading start.
In the second design we had to work with a 2 uneven columns grid. In this design i tried to experiment with colors that would represent the text and the images well. I think it worked to my advantage to pick out this complementary color because it gives the article texture. I also use the orange box for the feature quotes and to also add more structure to the article.
In the third design we had to create our own grid. I show's to do a two column grid with the a big header in the left side.In this design I choice to pick a man with a goofy face taking a small bite of a big steak. I pick this image to add a little comedy to the article. I also did a dotted line up to a quote to change the eye level of the reader.I block the quote once again to show how important is to read the quote in the article, and also add texture.
If i was to pick one i would go with the first one because, i believe it represent the target audience very well. It just looks manly to me.

Department Pages Design
Design 1 was the three column grid I called it the Morning Report. I created and Eye staring to left side just to signal the readers that were all the info starts. I add a good image of a futuristic farm, just to follow the content. Finally i too the color from the images it they are not my favorite but it make the page unique.
Design 2 it was a four even column grid. I enjoy this gird because you can use a little bit of design with out breaking the grid. I experimented with the orange color to see if the page stand out and i believe it does because it make the subhead stand out and also make the information look clean and presentable.
Design 3 with had to create our own grid and i did a five column grid just to stretch the text, because it was a full amount of text to use in one page. Again i went to with the bright orange, but this time was because it look good with the images and also i thought the orange color represent a food magazine very well. I took the green form the keewee fruit just to add some balance. Finally i got inspire from a magazine that i brought in to class that had the images placement like i have in design 3, but they were using a three column grid truly i think mine its better because i added the green element to the page with hold the headline on top so it look like is not hanging on a negative space.
If i was to choice one i pick design 3 just because is more of what i am looking for when i design the final magazine. It just look nice and clean
IL Magazine
This week would like present a very creative magazine covers for IL Magazine by Francesco Franchi, who has been the creative director at IL since 2008. IL- Intelligence in lifestyle' is high-end magazine, gear toward ment, but it also read by women.
I really enjoy this cover, because the layout really targets the specific audience which is men. Also I do not mind the negative space, because is so strong in a good way, that allows the images capture the reader interest right away without saying many words. Finally i really enjoy the blocky shape, they are a real essential of what make this cover work.
